Three 0.75L bottles of Cavallotto Vignolo Barolo Riserva from vintages 2016, 2017 and 2018, Italy, Barolo, Nebbiolo, DOCG, from a certified organic 1.96-hectare vineyard, with intact labels and capsules and a high fill level, each rated up to 96/100 by Wine Spectator.
Description from the seller
A rare vertical of three consecutive vintages of Cavallotto Barolo Riserva Vignolo — one of the most underrated and collectible Riserva Barolos in existence, from a 1.96-hectare certified organic vineyard with 40-year-old vines in Castiglione Falletto.
The Vignolo cru sits just below the legendary Bricco Boschis hill, on southwest-facing slopes at 220-310 metres altitude. The soils here have more sand than the adjacent Bricco Boschis, lending the wine an almost ethereal quality — star anise, rose petals, dried potpourri and crushed stone alongside the classic Nebbiolo architecture. Aged an extraordinary 60 months in large Slavonian oak botti — one of the longest aging periods in all of Barolo — and produced in minuscule quantities of only 5,000-5,333 bottles per vintage.
The 2016, from arguably Barolo's greatest recent vintage, is a monument — polished, silky, with an almost glossy quality to its tannins. Rated 96+/100 Wine Advocate ("elegance and power in perfect harmony, a wine from another era"), 96/100 Wine Spectator, 94/100 Vinous. Best from 2025–2050.
The 2017, warmer and more generous, delivers pencil shaving, crushed stone, licorice and wild berry with extra richness and mineral definition. Rated 95/100 Wine Advocate, 92/100 Vinous.
The 2018, streamlined and precise, shows the estate's mastery of a hot vintage — taut, silky and deeply structured, built for the long haul.
All three bottles certified organic, in perfect condition — intact labels and capsules, top fill level. Stored in a professional temperature-controlled cellar.
