Three 0.75 L bottles of Querciabella Bàtàr 2020 from Tuscany, Italy, a biodynamic, vegan Chardonnay–Pinot Bianco blend with a very top-shoulder fill, in fully intact capsules and labels.
Description from the seller
Three bottles of Querciabella Bàtàr 2020 — universally acclaimed as Italy's greatest white Super Tuscan and one of the finest white wines produced anywhere in the peninsula.
Born in the high-elevation vineyards of Ruffoli in Greve in Chianti, Bàtàr is a blend of equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco grown on galestro soils at 350-600 metres above sea level. Certified biodynamic, vegan, fermented and aged in French barriques with extended lees contact and regular bâtonnage. Hugh Johnson once described it as "a dream of a white" comparable to a Burgundy Grand Cru; Jancis Robinson likened it to "a successful Corton-Charlemagne." Production limited to 20,000 bottles per vintage.
The 2020 is "intense with cedar, smoked almond, mango purée, papaya and lemon pie — full-bodied, dense and creamy with delicious praline and pie-crust character, balanced by just the right amount of lemony acidity" (James Suckling). Antonio Galloni noted "tangerine oil, jasmine, spice and pear — the move towards high elevation vineyards yields a Bàtàr endowed with terrific freshness and plenty of style."
Rated 94/100 James Suckling, 93/100 Vinous, 93/100 Wine Advocate. Best from 2024–2035.
All three bottles certified biodynamic and vegan, in perfect condition — intact labels and capsules, high fill level. Stored in a professional temperature-controlled cellar.
