Convex mirror “Witch mirror”, golden bronze frame, 50’s – France
Spectacular circular convex mirror “witch mirror” with a golden bronze frame. Of French origin, made around 1950.
The frame features a diagonally crisscross structure, where each arm is adorned with floral motifs. Between the arms sits an ornamental grille with a diamond-shaped pattern.
Convex mirrors were known as ‘witch mirrors’ because it was believed they possessed magical powers, such as visually confusing witches if placed in the home. In reality, when placed opposite a window or door, they illuminate the interior of the house. Their size makes them perfect for decorating any room. It is a piece that is absolutely on-trend in the current market.
