Rare antique brass coal iron with engraving - 19th Century
For sale is an extraordinary and rare brass coal iron, presumably from the second half of the 19th century (Gilded Age/Wilhelminism).
The piece stands out with its filigree, pierced brass housing featuring heart and flower motifs and a turned wooden handle. The fold-out lid is fully preserved and functional.
Particularly noteworthy is the engraved inscription in Kurrentschrift on the front, indicating a company gift from a Kommanditgesellschaft (limited partnership) – a clear indication of the one-of-a-kind character of this piece.
Condition: age-appropriate, very good condition. Beautiful brass patina, no cracks, wooden handle intact.
