Offsite - Joris Wintgens - Table - Aluminium

Every aluminum extrusion starts with a piece of profile that isn’t quite right yet. During the production process, tubes are grabbed by a gripper arm and drawn through a mold. The first part that comes through the mold is irregular in shape and is normally cut off and discarded. Joris Wintgens used this part as a leg for this table.

The material comes from Nedal, one of the largest aluminum extruders in the Netherlands. The shape is exactly as the production process leaves it.

Thanks to the material, the table feels light yet sturdy. The aluminum surface is first glass-bead blasted and then treated with a transparent matte powder coat. That brings out the natural color of the aluminum but protects it against scratches and stains.
