Description from the seller
Splendid and rare ashtray from the Rimini Blu series, designed by Aldo Londi in 1959 and still produced today. A rare specimen from the 1970s, marked Flavia Montelupo.
Born in 1911 in Montelupo Fiorentino, Aldo Londi lived a life devoted to art: he was a painter and sculptor, but above all a ceramist. For more than fifty years he collaborated with Bitossi, first as art director and then as a collaborator.
Ceramic expertise and artistic sensibility were among his prerogatives. Combined with a predisposition for experimentation, they allowed him to undertake bold explorations and define a new expressive lexicon.
The iconic Rimini Blu series, produced uninterrupted since 1959, stands out for the texture of the surface. The decoration, composed of marks that create a fantastical whorl of abstract-geometric elements set under the blue, recalls the play of light on the surface of the sea.
Dimensions: 18x10x4 cm
