Unbranded - N/A - Saddle - 1900

A rare antique camel saddle in good vintage condition. Some signs of wear in places as you'd expect but it is structurally strong and solid, as pieces like this are designed to be. It comes with a leather cushion which has a couple of marks and tears. But on the up side, the cushion being there has kept the oak planks of the structure underneath in excellent condition with no noticeable marks.

This saddle would have been used for riding camels in the deserts of Africa and the Middle East. It features a distinctive curved shape with pommels at each end and is designed to fit in front of the camel's hump.

Historically saddles like these have been used since ancient times but this one has been turned into a quirky footstool with a decorative carved camel head on the front. It can also simply be a very nice decorative piece of furniture.

It is made with a wooden frame and decorated with metal studs with brass details and a rawhide wrapping. It also has beaded tassels and a bell hanging from the ears.
