Description from the seller
No reserve. CANON VT body, year 1956. A rangefinder camera; the V is the Roman numeral and the T stands for Trigger. The Trigger finger for faster transport of the film. The shutter was redesigned and now uses a two-axis horizontally moving slit shutter with cloth curtains. Also a self-timer and a shutter lock were added. Flash synchronization for FP-M-X is available with a bayonet mount and at 1/50 second. The competition from the Japanese and the need to contend with the long Leica tradition. What is better, the camera retained the Leica screw mount, but the camera itself was completely redesigned. The film transport was changed to a lever at the bottom (Leicavit built-in). There is also a film transport button on the top right of the camera. No bottom-loading tray but easy film loading with an open hinged back. The viewfinder was brighter, with a gilded half-silvered prism. The viewfinder with THREE settings and in the flash shoe automatic parallax correction, these inventions and additions were absolutely NEW, even then
35mm - 50mm and RF 135mm and an enlarged double-image system for focusing! (Still the power of the rangefinder). Canon realized it could become a world leader in rangefinder competition. It was a struggle against the new Leica M3. But the build quality is equal or even better, they are built to last. Yes 14x8x3.5 cm and 600 grams.
