Anglo-Indian style writing box, in wood with inlaid panels depicting architecture and animals, a canted hinged lid, accompanying Anglo-Indian carved blotter, of British India Company dynastic style (1600–1858) with an estimated period of 1850–1900, dimensions 22 cm wide by 12 cm high by 16 cm deep, single piece, origin India, in fair condition and sold without a stand, with a key included.
Description from the seller
A writing box with a slightly inclined, hinged lid (canted outline), where the front, sides and back each feature inlaid wooden panels. These panels are richly carved with depictions of architecture and animals, surrounded by decorative motifs of flowers and leaves. The whole shows a refined, artisanal finish with a pronounced Anglo-Indian stylistic influence. Together with a matching Anglo-Indian carved blotter (writing pad), executed in a similar decorative and stylistic form.
