Antique Italian prayer chair with integrated kneeler (prie-dieu chair), likely dating to the 19th century, originally intended for use in a private chapel or domestic oratory. The restrained design, solid proportions, and functional construction reflect devotional furniture made for noble residences rather than public ecclesiastical settings.
The chair features a folding wooden kneeler panel, allowing it to be used both as a seated chair and as a kneeling support for prayer. The seat is woven with natural fiber rush, showing a traditional pattern consistent with early examples.
