Description from the seller
Eliza Kołodziej (b. 2000, Poland)
“Concrete Animals”, 2025
Oil on canvas
120 × 90 cm (unframed, ready to hang)
This painting presents a group of concrete animal figures that seem suspended between stillness and movement.
Set within an open, simplified landscape, the forms appear heavy and fixed at first glance. Yet their posture suggests something about to change. The animals seem to be emerging from inactivity – not fully alive, but no longer entirely static. Their vacant eyes and solid bodies create a tension between lifeless material and the suggestion of motion.
The composition is reduced and direct, allowing the figures to dominate the space. Muted tones and controlled contrasts reinforce the atmosphere of quiet unease, where the scene feels suspended just before something begins.
The work captures a fragile state – a moment where the boundary between object and presence starts to blur.
The painting is ready to hang and will be shipped in secure, multi-layered packaging with an insured, tracked delivery and a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity.
