Antique Votive Vase in Polychrome Ceramic – Christ the Redeemer (circa 1930)
Splendid and unusual devotional vase for a domestic altar, made of polychrome ceramic and dating from the early decades of the 20th century (circa 1930). The object stands out for the complexity of its sculptural form and for the strong religious symbolism.
Artistic Analysis and Description
Central Subject: The front of the vase features a raised architectural niche housing the figure of Christ the Redeemer. The figure is crowned by a radiant gold sunburst and stands above a winged angel, placed at the base of the sacred scene.
Style and Decoration: The vase presents an elegant polychromy based on delicate tones of blue and white, enriched by abundant profiles and details in pure gold that emphasize its flowing, baroque-inspired shapes.
Structure: The body is characterized by two elaborate pierced side handles and a jagged-edged crown-shaped mouth. The reverse side is smooth, designed to be placed against a wall or in a niche.
Dimensions and Technical Details
Height: 22 cm.
Width: 14 cm (including the side handles).
Era: circa 1930.
Material: Glazed polychrome ceramic with gold finishes.
The vase is preserved in excellent vintage condition. It shows no breaks, cracks, or restorations. Only small, physiological losses of glaze and a slight wear of the gold due to time are noted, which attest to its originality and do not prejudice its aesthetics.
