Originating from China, dating to a period between the 18th and 19th centuries (late Ming Dynasty or Qing Dynasty).
A Taoist Judge of the Underworld or a version of Guanyin (a deity associated with compassion).
Made of wood and paper with remnants of polychromy (red and black) and gilding on a base decorated with floral motifs.
The figure wears formal clothing and a distinctive headdress, seated in a meditative or ceremonial pose on a raised decorated base. The wear to the lacquer and gold leaf is consistent with antique artifacts of this period.
The condition of the object is excellent.
