Exceptional Soumak Kuba – Azerbaijan (1920–1930)
We present a magnificent Soumak Kuba from Azerbaijan, an authentic Caucasian piece crafted 100% by hand.
Woven in high-quality wool with fine silk details on a cotton base, this art stands out for its extremely fine and tight structure, a hallmark of the best works from the Kuba region. The Soumak (soumakh) technique is clearly evident on the reverse, with the floating threads characteristic of this traditional Caucasian weave.
The design features a highly precise geometric composition, accompanied by traditional motifs and a detailed execution that demonstrates the weaver's mastery. The colors retain depth and harmony, lending character and elegance to the piece.
It is in very good condition considering its age (approx. 1920–1930). The structure is firm, the sides well preserved, and the weave maintains its original tension.
A refined and collectible piece, ideal for lovers of antique Caucasian textiles and for interiors with character.
