Description from the seller

Vintage Soviet Theodolite TT5, mid-20th century, measuring approximately 28 cm in height with a 17 x 18 cm base. Produced for military and state surveying applications, this model was widely used across the Soviet Union and allied territories from the 1950s through the 1970s for geodetic mapping, artillery positioning, and engineering projects. Its precision optics and calibrated circles allowed operators to measure horizontal and vertical angles critical for triangulation and targeting.

Finished in durable tan enamel typical of military-issued equipment, it features a telescopic sight with crosshair reticle, dual adjustment controls, and a robust leveling base with three foot screws for field stability. Marked “TT5” with serial number, it reflects the rugged, utilitarian design standards of Soviet optical engineering.

Showing light wear consistent with service use, it remains a compelling example of Cold War-era instrumentation, appealing to collectors of military technology, surveying history, and industrial design.
