Description from the seller
Laura Muolo, born in 1975, a Milan native by birth and a Rimini resident by choice. She approaches art as a self-taught artist since 2013. Her starting medium is graphite, through which she immediately seeks the realism of faces, later turning to other media such as pastel and painting.
She participates in many group exhibitions in Italy and internationally. Her works are part of several private collections in the United States, Australia, Japan, France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, and Italy. She has held three solo exhibitions: in the sala del teatro Comunale of Montescudo (RN) in August, at Galleria Arte e Vacanze of Punta Marina di Ravenna (RA) in September 2019, and in the sala del palazzo Priori in Volterra in June 2023.
Laura’s works are in a constant evolution toward an irrepressible search for the meaning of life events, the transformation they produce in our unconscious, and their memory, told and brought to the surface through subtly surreal and often symbolic contexts. Her genre is figurative, as her works speak through portraits of people who may be immersed in dreamlike landscapes and can also speak and convey their true thoughts through the projection of their own shadow.
Her preferred medium is oil painting, occasionally substituted with pastel.
She collaborates with writer Nadezhda Giorgieva Slavova on the realization of the cover for her poetry book titled "Notturno" released at the end of July 2015.
Her painting “Temporal Suggestions” was selected in 2023 by writer Vanessa Albus/Volker Haase (Ed) for the book “Philosophy of Autobiography at School and at University.”
Together with nine other contemporary artists, she was chosen by the Marchionni Prize direction to create a work specifically for the show “Pleasure I’m Not” at the Museo civico Ruzittu of Arzachena – Olbia, to be exhibited alongside the great masters such as De Chirico, Magritte, Severini, and Sironi from April 21 to July 23, 2023.
She has earned several awards since 2021: Finalist for the Marchionni Prize in 2021-2022-2023 (the year she also won the prize for itinerant exhibitions) and finalist again in 2024, Finalist for the Mestre Painting Prize in 2022 and in 2024 she received a merit certificate from the same prize in painting, winner of the Prisma Art Prize second prize in 2021 – winner of the Cash Prize at Malamegi Art Rome 2023 – Winner of the first painting prize at the competition “Where is the Future” organized by the gallery “The Great Beauty of Volterra” in 2023 and 2022 the 3rd prize in the contest “Where is Love” – finalist in painting at the Marchionni Prize 2024.
