NO RESERVE - Bodegón de azúcar, a 19th‑century Italian oil on canvas still life, country of origin Italy, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Title: Sugar Still Life
School: Italian, 19th century
Style: Classical/Realist still life
Technique: Oil on canvas
Still life in the Italian school of the 19th century, executed in oil on canvas. The composition presents a careful interior scene with various elements arranged on a table: a coffee pot or metallic container in coppery tones, a dark bottle, a white sugar shaker with lumps of sugar, a cup with a spoon, a decorated metal canister, and a plate with pastries and cookies. In the foreground there are small sugar cubes or sweets scattered beside a light cloth with bluish tones, lending brightness to the whole.
The work stands out for its detailed treatment of objects, the contrast between the dark background and the lighter foreground elements, and for a sober lighting that reinforces the volume and texture of each piece. The arrangement of objects adheres to the European still life tradition, with particular attention to compositional balance and the study of materials such as metal, ceramic, glass, fabric, and food.
Present restorations, as the work predates the XX century.
Observations:
The work shows no visible frame in the provided image. Perimeter wear, small losses, and signs typical of age and handling are apparent.
Dimensions: 47 x 56 cm.
The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging. In that case, we will require photographs of the damage to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by a surcharge due to causes such as being outside a continental territory, excess dimensions or weight of the item. PremiArt will not cover this surcharge under any circumstances.
Due to border issues with Switzerland we are obliged to inform you that shipments exceeding 1 meter in length or height to that destination will not be carried out.
