Description from the seller

Marjolein Deurloo (1981) is the creative mind behind Novel Grey. Driven by a fascination with materials and forms, she, together with her husband Jan-Paul, creates sculptural wall objects that invite both looking and touching. Each work begins as an intuitive exploration of repetition, contrast and subdued simplicity, with tactility at its core. Their process is rooted in curiosity and explores how a surface catches the light, how a texture feels under your hand, and how something unexpected can emerge from the everyday. This work subtly surprises, slows your gaze, and invites the viewer to keep exploring.

In line with this approach, the Concrete Cushions Series emerged. Despite our intention to Bend the material to our will, it ultimately leads us to its own form.
