The works arise from an artisanal and experimental process that makes each canvas unique. The surface is carefully prepared and enriched with natural papers selected and textural insertions, creating an irregular, three-dimensional base rich in texture that enhances the structure of the canvas. Subsequently this surface is worked in an uneven manner using mixed media, in which water-soluble pastels play a central role, creating stratifications, transparencies and contrasts in dialogue with the material underneath. Each work reflects a balance between technical control and material spontaneity, marking the artist's transition from a consolidated digital practice to a more tactile, artisanal and/material approach.

Giulia Piras began her studies at the Faculty of Biological Sciences due to her interest in naturalist themes. However, she opted for a change of path toward the Academy of Fine Arts, where she had the opportunity to deepen and apply her passion for scientific illustration. She continues her studies specializing in Illustration at ISIA Urbino. Today she lives in the Marche countryside, in Italy, surrounded by the Apennines, oak forests and flowering meadows. She collaborates with publishers, magazines, companies and advertising agencies. She is selected for the Renner Prize for the contemporary. In 2021 she wins the contest "Digital Inclusion" organized by Posterheroes. In 2025 she is selected for the Annual of Image Authors and for the BRAW (Bologna Ragazzi Award) Amazing Bookshelf.

Color differences may depend on lighting conditions, monitor settings or the camera used. The actual color tones may therefore vary slightly from those shown on screen.

Some images are photomontages created for purely illustrative purposes. The proportions and dimensions depicted may not precisely reflect the real dimensions of the artwork.
