Description from the seller
Plia folding chair
Designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli, 1967.
An absolute icon of Italian design, the Plia is a folding chair characterized by its celebrated chrome-plated wireframe and the seat and back in transparent amber-colored plastic, here presented in the original warm amber shade.
Piretti's design is recognizable for the perfect balance between visual lightness, functionality, and technical innovation: the locking system allows an extremely compact fold, making the chair practical and easy to store, without sacrificing its strong formal identity.
The shell features the classic shape with a central circular inlay on the seat and rounded edges, distinctive elements of the model.
Materials
• Chromed steel frame
• Seat and backrest in amber-colored transparent plastic
Era
• Late 1960s / subsequent production in keeping with the original design
Condition
The metal frame is in good overall condition.
The plastic parts (seat and backrest) show some surface marks, small scratches and slight signs of aging, visible especially when held up to light, consistent with use and age of the item.
There are no visible breaks or cracks.
