Description from the seller
Silvered-metal liturgical ciborium – late 19th century
Elegant liturgical ciborium on a molded base, made of silvered metal and dating from the late 19th century, an expression of solid and functional ecclesiastical production, yet at the same time characterized by a sober and harmonious line.
The structure features a circular base well proportioned that develops into a turned shaft with a refined central vase-like knop, a typical element that gives momentum and balance to the whole. The upper body, globular in shape, houses the smooth, well-preserved inner cup, while the dome-shaped lid is topped by a cross, a distinctive symbol of the sacred function of the object.
Dimensions are 22.5 cm in height by 9.8 cm in diameter, with a weight of 395 grams, making it a manageable yet stable and well-constructed ciborium.
The surface shows a beautiful patina of time with signs of oxidation and wear consistent with the period, particularly visible on the lid and the base. These elements do not compromise the overall aesthetics in any way, but rather enhance its authenticity and historical charm. The interior of the cup is in good condition, with reflections still bright.
An object of great interest for collectors of sacred art, but also perfect as a decorative element for classical interiors, studies or private collections, where it can be showcased as a testimony of liturgical art of the era.
The photos are an integral part of the description. Guaranteed careful packaging entrusted to professionals in the field.
