About the set:
In 2007 the first LEGO Modular appeared: the LEGO 10182 Cafe Corner. This set was designed by Jamie Berard, who is now responsible for several Modular Buildings. The building with a modular concept was the result of Jamie's passion project. The LEGO Group saw opportunity in it. With this new line of sets, they could launch an expandable urban development concept that would appeal to advanced (adult) LEGO builders. A major difference with the Modular Buildings of today is that interiors were not yet included. We are now many years and models further, and the theme remains extremely popular.
