J.DENY - Stool - Metal, Leather - Tram folding chair

Folding stool from the early 1900s produced by the French company J. Deny.

Metal frame, seat and backrest upholstered in dark leather with an original patina.

The opening and closing mechanism is particularly ingenious: the backrest folds forward onto the seat, the two feet rotate 180° on the central pivot, and at that point all the feet fold accordion-style.

Used at the time as an emergency stool on trams, it was employed when seating was exhausted. Once closed, it becomes compact and easily stored under the seats
