A statue that immediately takes over the room.

This kneeling Thai temple statue is presumably a Thepanom: a graceful temple figure with hands folded in the traditional wai gesture. The pose radiates calm, receptiveness, and ceremony. Not a loud object, but an presence you feel as soon as it stands somewhere.

The statue comes from Thailand and is made of gold-colored brass. The finish is rich and decorative, with fine relief details on the crown, shoulders, clothing, and back. The dark patina in the recesses adds depth and makes the ornamentation speak better.

With a height of 33 cm and a weight of 1816 grams (!!!) it doesn’t feel like a lightweight decorative piece. It stands firmly, shines warmly, and has enough detail to be viewed up close.

This is exactly the kind of object that instantly makes an interior more exciting. On a dark console in a hotel-chic lobby. Between linen, wood, and natural stone in a wabi-sabi setting. In a boho interior with earth tones and candlelight. Or simply as a golden accent in an eclectic living room where nothing needs to be overly tidy.

Good vintage condition with normal signs of use fitting for age and material. There are small spots, patina, discolorations, and slight irregularities visible in the gold-colored finish. These marks give the statue character and depth.

I see no visible signature, maker’s mark, or foundry stamp. I cannot confirm the exact maker and exact production location.
