AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Hello, I am presenting to you 2 antique sugared almond boxes (dragée) dating from the Romantic era, 1830s-1840s. They feature a “fixé sous verre” décor, a popular technique in the 19th century for adorning small collectible objects. One of the two boxes shows an elegant woman holding a playing card (the King of Diamonds) and just underneath a rebus that I have not managed to decipher. The second box shows a woman holding a pretty basket. Both boxes are made of cardboard with a brass rim to hold the glass and are nicely decorated on the side.

The two boxes are in beautiful condition with no missing parts and no breaks, only some signs of aging given their age. Diameter of the boxes: 7 cm and 8.5 cm. Thickness: 2 cm. Note that one of the two boxes has traces of gold paint on the back, probably original. My parcels are packaged with great care and include tracking and insurance.
