DESCRIPTION
Antique collection of two original alcoholmeters / brandy testers with Cartier scale from the 19th century.
Offered is an exceptionally rare and high-quality ensemble of historical alcohol-measuring instruments in remarkably original condition.
Both pieces originate from the era of classic European distillation and spirit testing and were used to determine alcohol content. The instruments feature the historic Cartier scale and display the characteristic craftsmanship of 19th-century glassmaking with finely worked hand-blown glass.
The collection consists of:
1. Brandweinprober “Cartier”
dated ca. 1850–1870
originally hand-labelled paper scale
very early design
hand-blown glass
exceptionally decorative historical labeling
2. Alcoholometer “Cartier”
dated ca. 1880–1900
delicate Cartier scale up to 45
elegant scientific execution
very finely worked glass housing
Condition
The preservation state of both instruments is exceptional and in this form extremely rare.
