Description from the seller

Stunning set of 3 English solid oak side tables (nesting tables) with cut-glass tops — ca. 1960–1970

OBJECT
This elegant set of three nested side tables is a handsome example of traditional English cabinetmaking from the 1960s–1970s. The tables are crafted in the so-called Old English or Jacobean Revival style, a style whose roots lie in the early 17th-century English furniture tradition and which remained popular throughout the 20th century in Great Britain and the Netherlands.

The construction is entirely in solid high-quality oak, recognizable by the characteristic grain and the warm, deep color the wood has acquired over decades. The turned legs — a typical feature of the Jacobean style — are expertly executed and lend the set a timeless, stately appearance.
A particularly refined detail are the cut-glass faceted tops, which break the light elegantly and give the tables a graceful, almost jewel-like quality. The octagonal/slanted corners of the tabletops reinforce this aesthetic effect.

CONDITION
Construction / mechanical: 10/10
The wood joints are completely sturdy and intact — no loose legs, no cracks, no breaks. The tables are structurally like new.

Optical / visual - wood: 9/10
The oak has developed a beautiful, glossy patina that testifies to careful use and good maintenance over the years. There are minimal signs of use visible in the form of light scratches and a few small dents, fully in line with the age and careful use. The many photographs provide an honest and complete view of the visual condition.

Optical / visual - glass tops: 7/10
The cut glass inlays have no cracks or fractures and also no significant scratches. Locally there are small glass chips visible at the edges, which is common for cut glass of this age and does not mar the piece.

The accompanying photos are an integral part of the description and provide an accurate view of the object’s condition.

DIMENSIONS (approx.)
Large table: 58 × 38 × 46 cm
Middle table: 46 × 33 × 42 cm
