Description from the seller

Wall panel after: The Jovial Drinker by Frans Hals. ca. 1628 – ca. 1630

The painting hangs in the Gallery of Honor at the Rijksmuseum and is a highlight of Hals’s bold ‘raw’ and loose style. The brushstrokes run crisscross across the canvas, thereby giving a suggestion of movement.
It is as if the man, who due to his clothing is probably a musketeer or soldier, has just raised his glass to toast with us.

The painter of the porcelain bottle has aptly copied it in many shades of blue.
