John G. Mace (1937-2023) - Cattle watering under a cloudy blue sky

I am offering for auction a charming 20th century oil on board of cattle watering in a river landscape, by listed artist John G Mace, 1937-2023.Signed bottom right. Offered with no reserve! The painting measures 49 x 39 cm. The frame is 60 x 50 cm. Condition of the painting is good. Please view all photos for accurate condition. Ready to hang. John Edwin George Mace was born at Brentford, Middlesex in 1937, son of Chares W. Mace (7 November 1901-), a commercial traveller, and his wife Olive Ethel née Rice (20 October 1904-5 July 1994), who married at Hammersmith, London in 1929. John married at Ealing, London in 1961, Christine Bills. A well collected artist who paints in the best traditions of the 'Norwich School' and often portrays Norfolk life in bygone times and is keenly interested in wildlife. Mace was a member of the Great Yarmouth & District Society of Artists and has had numerous exhibitions in Norfolk and Suffolk and his oil 'Walberswick Harbour' dated 1982 was auctioned in 2012. He donated a work to the 'Westhall Secret Postcard Auction' in 2013 'Two's Company' from 58 Elizabeth Fry Road, Norwich where he lived for over 30 years but moved to Dorking in Surrey. Please note. Due to the fragile nature of old frames and glass, our shippers do not provide insurance for any damage caused during transit. We go to great lengths to ensure each painting is packed and protected to a very high standard but sadly cannot compensate or refund for any damage occurring to frames or glass during transit. Therefore the frame and any glass is a gift to you with zero value and you are bidding on the artwork only. Due to Brexit, there are delays at EU customs borders though the situation is improving. Please do not blame me for delays or any customs duty payable. I really appreciate your understanding and patience. Steve.
