Description from the seller
Title: Symphony of Hills
Oil on canvas, 30×30 cm
An oil on canvas 30x30 cm signed Giulio Morandi presents itself as a luminous and rhythmic vision of the hilly landscape, built through a refined synthesis between figuration and decorative abstraction.
The composition opens in the foreground with a gentle green slope, where two slender, slightly inclined trunks trees introduce the gaze toward the depth. The canopies, dense and vibrant, are rendered with tactile, textural brushstrokes that convey a tangible and alive sense of the vegetation. Beside them, golden fields and light earth tones alternate in soft curves, dotted with small isolated trees, some with pinkish and purplish hues, which add a lyrical and almost fairy-tale accent.
The heart of the work is occupied by a succession of agricultural blocks organized into a geometric mosaic: rectangles and trapezoids in bright colors—yellows, oranges, greens, blues, and purples—arranged following the undulating trend of the hills. The striped textures and chromatic variations suggest different crops, turning the landscape into a rhythmic and harmonious weave.
In the background, a compact village rises along the horizon line, with white houses and red roofs and a bell tower that emerges as a vertical focal point. The belt of trees surrounding it creates a natural transition toward the sky, clear and serene, barely veiled by thin clouds.
The light, diffuse and crystalline, enhances the chromatic contrasts without ever weighing them down, giving the whole a joyful and contemplative quality. The painting material, visible and substantial, helps to give depth and dynamism to the surface, inviting close viewing.
