Silver coin of the Ottoman Egypt that features on the obverse the characteristic calligraphic tughra of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, in an elegant Islamic style and fluid stroke, occupying the center of the field with well-defined ornamental elements. The reverse shows the face value within a symmetrical vegetal crown, with the Arabic inscriptions and the Islamic date accompanied by the year of reign, crowed by a crescent and star. The reliefs are sharp and the design maintains a good overall presence, with residual luster visible in the fields. The piece has been cleaned in the past, a circumstance noted by the grader, although it retains an attractive appearance and full details typical of an uncirculated example. Historically, it belongs to the late period of Ottoman rule over Egypt, when monetary issues retained the imperial iconography of the sultan.
