Something rises from below. It begins as earth — dark brown, damp, dense with roots and leaves that still recall green — and then it transforms, slowly, without hurry, into amber, ochre, into a gold that, as it rises, becomes pure light. The leaves do not fall in this painting: they ascend. They dissolve into color until they become texture, then reflection, then absence. There is something deeply seasonal but also eternal in this progression — the way organic matter never truly dies, but changes state.
