Description from the seller
Agoudal Meteorite – Fe IIAB – Morocco
The Agoudal meteorites rank among the most remarkable and relatively rare discoveries of the early 21st century. First identified in 2000 in the Moroccan High Atlas, they were officially recognized and classified on April 27, 2013 as iron meteorites of the IIAB type, a category prized for its structure and cosmic origin.
This lot comes directly from the Agoudal region, located at an elevation of over 2,000 meters. We personally acquired it during an on-site expedition in March 2026, right in the heart of the strewn field, guaranteeing authentic and direct traceability.
The fall produced a large quantity of fragments, ranging from a few grams to several kilograms, for an estimated total mass of over 100 kg. The majority of specimens appear as irregular shards, generally between 2 and 5 cm in size, and of irregular shape. They are often covered with a thin weathering crust, while some more compact fragments retain a well-developed fusion crust, characteristic of an intense atmospheric passage.
These meteorites offer a rare balance between accessibility and scientific authenticity, while remaining relatively uncommon on the market. Their origin, classification, and mode of collection make them premier pieces, both for discerning collectors and for lovers of extraterrestrial minerals.
Authentic piece – direct provenance – natural cosmic material.
