Pair of architectural neoclassical bookends in marble and alabaster dating to the early 20th century, made in Italy, each about 15.5 cm high, 15 cm wide and 7.5 cm deep and weighing ~1.7 kg, in good condition with signs of age.
Description from the seller
Pair of architectural marble and alabaster bookends – 20th century
An important pair of decorative bookends carved in marble and alabaster dating from the 20th century, characterized by a strong architectural and neoclassical taste. The form evokes fragments of fluted ancient columns, reinterpreted in a decorative key with great stage-like elegance.
The alabaster, of splendid quality, features a wonderful natural translucence visible especially in transmitted light, where veins and warm shades emerge, lending depth and tactile charm to the whole. The marble base, substantial and massive, provides stability and a refined chromatic contrast.
Objects of great aesthetic presence, perfect both as bookends and as autonomous decorative elements. The patina of time makes the surface particularly fascinating and authentic, enhancing the sculptural character of the ensemble.
Dimensions of each element: height 15.5 cm, width 15 cm, depth about 7.5 cm. Each weighs a substantial amount, about 1.7 kg.
Normal signs of wear due to time, small abrasions, slight irregularities and natural veining of the material, as well as minor imperfections compatible with age and use, all clearly visible in the photographs. Overall, the pair presents excellent aesthetic condition and splendid decorative presence.
Ideal in important libraries, professional studies, classic, modern or eclectic interiors. Perfect when placed with antique books, bound volumes or Grand Tour objects, but also very elegant in contemporary interiors as a material and architectural contrast.
Photos are an integral part of the description. Guaranteed careful packaging entrusted to industry professionals.
