Vintage Snauwaert Caravelle wooden tennis racket – Belgium – 1960s/70s
Beautiful original vintage tennis racket from the Belgian brand Snauwaert & Depla, model Caravelle. This iconic wooden racket is among the best-known models from the wooden tennis era and was famed for its innovative construction and excellent playing comfort.
The Caravelle was developed with a distinctive open throat ("slit shaft") designed to reduce vibrations and provide extra flexibility for more power and control. An advanced design for its time.
The racket is finished in dark blue with natural wood tones and features striking pink strings and an original brown leather grip. A gorgeous decorative collectible for vintage sports memorabilia enthusiasts, tennis history fans, or design lovers from the 60s/70s.
Inscription on the racket:
“Playability: a most flexible racket for more power and good control. The slit in the shaft will dampen and fights the tennis arm.”
“Construction: all white ash with double fibre in the head and 4 sides reinforced with vulcan fibre for strength open slit for flexibility.”
