Biography
Mel Ramos (1935–2018) is regarded as one of the most important American Pop Art artists. He became known for his humorous and provocative depictions of pin-up girls, which he often paired with branded products such as chocolate, cigarettes, or beverages.
Ramos studied art at Sacramento State College in California and was closely associated with the giants of Pop Art such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Tom Wesselmann.
His works combine consumer critique with erotic imagery and are today represented in major museums as well as international private collections.
In the art market Ramos’s paintings and graphics attract a great deal of attention, especially his limited-edition silkscreens and lithographs, which appeal to a broad collecting audience.
The print has always been stored flat and is only briefly rolled for transport.
