Description from the seller
Collectible Rarities – Tobacco Pouch / Coin Purse made of fine leather, Imperial Crown shape, Tsarist Russia (ca. 1900) Description: I am selling a special collector's item, a three-dimensional expandable pouch (tobacco pouch / coin purse) made during the Belle Époque period (ca. 1890–1910), intended for the Russian Empire market (Tsarist Russia / Romanov Dynasty). The object is ingeniously designed in the shape of an Imperial Crown and opens by extending the flexible leather body. Supreme Heraldic Elements: The main metal lid is decorated with the official heraldic coat of arms of the Russian Empire — the double-headed eagle carrying the central shield with Saint George and the shields of the annexed provinces. On the eagle's tail, extremely fine details of the collar and cross of the Order of Saint Andrew can be seen in miniature. Luxury Materials: The body is manufactured from alternating segments of high-quality suede leather, extremely soft and velvety to the touch. The segments are joined by decorative seams with impeccably made multi-colored textile thread. Mechanism and Markings: The robust metal base operates on a spring-loaded closure system (push-button). On the clasp is the original punch in an oval cartridge with the text "DÉPOSÉ" and the patent number (industrial patent) 27051, specific to European luxury workshops of the era. Technical details: The tip of the crown is provided with a tubular metal knob (hole for the safety cord on the vest). State of conservation: The piece is in exceptional condition for its age of over 110 years. The suede is perfectly flexible, soft, without cracks or structural breaks. The opening mechanism is fully functional. It presents an authentic historical patina that increases its value. The interior preserves microscopic traces of historical tobacco scent. A museum piece with a special visual impact, ideal for collectors of militaria, Russian imperial heraldry or luxury men's accessories from the pre-revolutionary period
