Description from the seller
Elegant Italian wall console dating from the 1930s, made of carved fir wood and finely hand-decorated with polychrome floral motifs in a baroque/rococo taste.
The piece features a sinuous, light silhouette, with carved legs and a shaped front frieze, expression of the refined Italian decorative revival of the early 20th century.
The pictorial decoration, done by hand, preserves a pleasant antique patina enhanced by a recent conservative restoration carried out with:
- watercolor touch-ups
- traditional grommet lacquer finish
- structural consolidation
The console is original in all its parts except the rear, which has been replaced over time to ensure greater stability.
The photographs show in detail:
- the quality of the manual painting
- the carved leg work
- the surface with natural craquelure and signs of time
- the luster obtained through traditional shellac polishing
Perfect as a decorative element for entrances, living rooms, bedrooms, or eclectic and shabby chic environments.
Materials
Solid fir wood
Hand-painted polychrome decoration
Gommalacca finish (shellac)
Conditions
Good overall conservative condition with normal signs of time consistent with the age and authenticity of the work.
