Bronze Age Bronze socketed Spearhead

Attention: due to customs regulations we can only ship inside the European Union. Please ensure you have a valid EU shipping address before placing a bid. Superb quality European Bronze Age socketed bronze spearhead with a slender leaf-shaped blade. A pronounced central midrib with multiple grooves/ blood channels runs down the centre of the blade. The edges are bevelled and still sharp. -> Bronze spearheads were among the most important weapons of the Bronze Age, used both in hunting and warfare. Their carefully shaped blades and socketed construction reflect the high technical skill achieved by prehistoric metalworkers. Length: ± 116,5 mm Width: ± 29,2 mm Good and solid condition, attractive smooth patina. Signs of wear consistent with age and use. Certificate of Authenticity: available upon request (pdf-format). -> Spearheads were widely used throughout the Bronze Age and rank among the most characteristic weapons of prehistoric Europe. Early forms were often simpler, but over time metalworkers developed stronger and more efficient types with pronounced midribs and socketed bases, allowing the blade to be mounted more securely onto a shaft. This improved both durability and effectiveness in use. Beyond their practical role, bronze spearheads also reflect the importance of warfare, hunting, and status in Bronze Age society. Many were functional weapons, while others may have held symbolic or prestige value. Objects such as this demonstrate the technical sophistication of prehistoric bronze casting and the enduring importance of edged weaponry in the material culture of the Bronze Age.
