Description from the seller
Eleonora Stol (1946–2022) was a Dutch artist best known for her expressive, colorful, and emotionally charged paintings and graphics. She was born in Leiden and studied at the Free Academy in The Hague, and later worked for a long time from Amsterdam. Her artist’s name was also sometimes “La Roja,” referring to her preference for bold colors, with red as a recurring theme in her life and work.
Stol’s work is characterized by vibrant color use, dynamic forms, and an intuitive painting style in which passion, love, dance, and dream imagery play a major role. She frequently employed mixed techniques, including acrylic, oil paint, and pencil, giving her works a rich, textural quality that directly engages emotion. Her art is described as lively, energetic, and full of movement, almost as if the canvases “breathe.”
Work dimensions: 140 x 200 cm
The work is viewable at our gallery. In addition, Art Dumay operates a framing workshop (this year their 85th anniversary) and a restoration studio. If you would like to use these services, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
Shipping is possible and will be arranged after the sale. For questions, please contact us.
