Byzantine solid silver cross pendant from c. 8th–10th Century A.D., with four arms ending in round medallions and fleur-de-lys style granulated edges, 5.3 cm long including the loop, in Excellent condition, acquired in 2020 from the United Kingdom via an antique market, previously from a Belgian private collection from 1990, comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Description from the seller
Solid silver cast cross, each of the four arms ending in a round medallion surrounded by fine filigree rope decoration, the center with a cross shaped of granules, filigree and a central medallion. The edges decorated with large granules to form fleur de lys style embellishment. Exquisite.
Size: 5.3 cm L (including loop) - 2 1/16 inches
Material: Gold, 30.2 grms
Culture: Byzantine, c. 8th- 10th Century A.D.
Condition: Intact
Provenance: European private collection, acquired in Belgium in the 1990s.
