Seller's Story

VIGFILA has automatic stamps as a specialty. AuToMaatzegels (= ATM) are stamps from automatic distributors. They were first used in France on March 1, 1969 in Montgeron. These automatic stamps are equated by the postal service with ordinary stamps. At the 1984 UPU Congress in Hamburg, automatic stamps were defined as 'stamps printed by electronic distributors'. The automatic stamps are therefore valid indefinitely, can be used anywhere in a country and can be canceled like ordinary stamps. They differ from ordinary postage stamps only in one respect: namely, the user himself chooses the value of the stamp. It is therefore not logical to attach great importance to this value. That is why most ATMs are collected in their smallest value. It also happens that there is a collection per set; these are ranges of 3 or 4 ATM. These usually represent the 3 or 4 most common postal rates.
