Description from the seller
Bukhara Rug from Pakistan
The Bukhara rug is one of the most well-known and popular Oriental carpets. Although its origin lies in the Central Asian city of Bukhara (today Uzbekistan), many of these carpets are now produced in Pakistan – especially in the regions of Lahore and Karachi. Pakistani Bukhara rugs are known for their high quality, fine knotting, and their glossy wool material.
Typical for Bukhara rugs is the so-called "Göl" pattern – a repeating octagonal or diamond-shaped motif, regularly distributed across the entire field. The colors usually range from deep red to wine red to warm beige or cream, combined with black, dark blue, or ivory.
Pakistani Bukhara rugs are typically knotted with a blend of virgin wool and cotton, with the wool for the pile and the cotton for the warp and weft. This gives the carpet strength and durability, while the wool’s sheen provides an elegant appearance.
Because of their harmonious patterns and warm tones, Bukhara rugs fit well in both classical and modern living spaces. They are both a piece of traditional craftsmanship and an expression of timeless elegance.
