Description from the seller

Brazil – Lot of 3 early banknotes

The lot includes:

1) Empire of Brazil / Thesouro Nacional – 500 Réis
2) Empire of Brazil / Thesouro Nacional – 500 Réis
3) Republic of the United States of Brazil / Thesouro Nacional – 2 Mil Réis

Printer: American Bank Note Co., New York.

An interesting group of early Brazilian banknotes from the Imperial period and the early Republican period. The two 500 Réis notes belong to the Empire of Brazil issue, featuring the portrait of Dom Pedro II and a classical design with allegorical figures. The 2 Mil Réis note belongs to the Republican Thesouro Nacional issue.

All three banknotes show attractive American Bank Note Co. engraving, typical of late 19th-century paper money.

Condition: circulated. The notes show folds, stains, wear, edge damage, small tears and paper weakness. One of the 500 Réis notes has a more visible central fold/tear. Despite the condition, the main design and inscriptions remain clearly visible.

Please look carefully at the photos, as they are part of the description and show the actual condition of the banknotes.
