Description from the seller
Elegant and refined Italian liturgical chalice from the late 19th century, characterized by a sober line yet of great presence, typical of late 19th-century ecclesiastical production.
The upper cup, finely gilded on the inside and outside, creates a magnificent color contrast with the silvered body of the stem and base. The lower part of the cup is adorned with a delicate repoussé decoration with stylized foliate motifs, executed with good artisanal quality and Neoclassical taste.
The stem features a beautiful turned workmanship with a harmonious central node and very balanced proportions, while the circular fluted base gives solidity and elegance to the whole. An object of strong decorative charm, capable of enhancing both classical environments and eclectic interiors or collections devoted to sacred art and religious antiquities.
There are two punches/seals, one on the cup and one on the foot, both barely legible but compatible with Italian production of the late 19th century.
Dimensions: height 23.5 cm; base diameter 12 cm; cup diameter 8.5 cm. Total weight about 508 grams.
Very good condition and consistent with the period. Normal signs of time, light surface wear and small internal oxidations visible in the photographs, which do not compromise the aesthetic harmony nor the object's appeal. The internal gilding is still very charming and spectacular.
Perfect as a decorative element on a console, bookshelves, professional offices, or rooms with a classical and collectible taste; also ideal when placed in a wunderkammer or in a collection of European sacred art of the 19th century.
The photos are part of the description. Guaranteed careful packing entrusted to professionals in the field.
