Display Sideboard "Buffet" in Carved Oak - Renaissance Style - Late 19th Century
Splendid and imposing display sideboard (buffet) made of solid oak (or walnut) wood, richly hand-carved. The piece stands out for the exceptional quality of the carvings, blending Renaissance repertory elements with the opulent taste of the late nineteenth century.
Artistic Details:
Monumental Crown: The upper part is dominated by a substantial pierced crown with foliate scrolls that frame a finely carved female face (mascaron).
Central Body: Under the main top are two front drawers, also decorated with relief motifs and fitted with original bronze/brass handles of a curved, flowing shape.
Supports and Shelves: The structure rests on front cantilevered posts richly worked with scroll and acanthus leaf motifs, supporting two wide open shelves, ideal for displaying ceramics or art objects.
Base: The piece terminates with a solid, molded base that ensures stability and grandeur.
Conditions:
The piece is in overall excellent conservational condition. It shows the natural signs of time that attest its age and originality (small patinas or slight signs of superficial wear). The structure is solid, the drawers slide properly.
