Description from the seller
Italian Renaissance Style Solid Wood "Fratino" Table
Splendid center or refectory table, commonly known as "Fratino", made of solid wood with a rich dark patina that enhances its historic character and timeless elegance. This piece stands out for its structural solidity and the refinement of the hand-carved details.
Main Features:
Top: Wide rectangular with molded edges. Under the edge of the top runs a splendid carved beading frame (petal or pod motif), typical of late Renaissance style.
Base: Supported by two imposing vase/Lyre-shaped legs, finely carved with acanthus leaf motifs and lateral volutes.
Central Stretcher: The legs are connected by a sturdy horizontal crossbar, enriched at the center with a carved shell (scallop) medallion and scroll terminations, which ensures extreme stability and aesthetic prestige.
Feet: The table rests on dramatic lion’s paw feet (or beasts), a symbol of nobility and strength in period furniture.
Conservation Status:
The piece is presented in excellent overall condition, with normal signs of wear that attest to its authenticity and enhance its charm (small natural wood cracks or slight superficial marks as visible in the photo). The structure is solid and ready to be placed in a prestigious living room, study, or dining room.
