Description from the seller
Elegant pair of solid wood chairs, dating to the first half of the 20th century. The design recalls the canons of Renaissance style, characterized by strict lines and a solid and austere structure.
The chairs feature a high open-back with a central padded insert upholstered in jacquard fabric with floral motifs, finished along the edges by a series of darkened metal studs that confer a bold, vintage character.
The base is particularly worked, with front legs shaped like turned columns ending in onion-shaped feet, connected by a sturdy H-shaped stretcher that guarantees maximum stability.
Technical Details:
Material: Solid wood (probably walnut or stained beech).
Era: Early 1900s.
Style: Renaissance Revival / Umbertine.
Upholstery: Tapestry-weave jacquard fabric with floral motifs.
State of Conservation:
The chairs are structurally integral and solid. Being antique objects, they show the usual signs of time and wear that attest to their authenticity:
Wood: Small dings and superficial marks (as visible in close-up photo).
Fabric: The upholstery and seating fabric show evident signs of wear and tears at the corners. A reupholstery intervention is recommended to restore them to their former splendor, though they retain a strong "shabby" charm in their current state.
Underside: The bottom has been reinforced with modern elastic straps to ensure functionality (as shown in the underside photo).
