Description from the seller
Historic Dutch silver ship – Netherlands, 1908 – naval miniature with crew – collectible piece
Magnificent and extraordinarily detailed naval miniature made in Dutch silver and dated 1908, according to its original Dutch assay marks. A refined piece of precious metal craftsmanship that reflects the historic maritime tradition of the Netherlands, one of the major naval powers of Europe.
The piece represents an elegant historic sailing vessel with an exceptional level of detail: complex full rigging, textured sails, flags, multiple ropes crafted by hand and small seamen figures distributed aboard, bringing life and authenticity to the scene.
Particularly notable is the richness of the hull decoration and its refined curved balance-base type, a feature highly prized in decorative naval miniatures from the early 20th century.
Dutch silver naval miniatures were produced as prestigious, collectible objects, reflecting the maritime pride of a nation deeply linked to trade and navigation.
