René-Marie CASTAING, a pupil of his father and Paul Albert Laurens, exhibited at the Salon des artistes français as early as 1913 and received a silver medal there in 1925.

He was the first Béarnais to win the Premier Grand Prix de Rome in 1924 and later became a member of the Society of French Artists.

Il est le premier Béarnais à gagner en 1924 le Premier Grand Prix de Rome et est devenu par la suite membre de la Société des artistes français.
